At War with Mercy

At War with Mercy and is a play with music, inspired by the songs of Leonard Cohen, co-written by Leonard Cohen, Angela Keogh and John MacKenna, and staged by Mend & Makedo Theatre Co.

John MacKenna worked with Leonard in 2016 on a previous production, Between Your Love and Mine - a requiem for theatre - which toured nationally in 2017/2019, playing twenty theatres including the National Concert Hall, Aras an Uachtaráin and Dunamaise Arts Centre!

The new show looks at the themes of war, peace and mercy through Leonard's music and the stories and experiences inspired by his writings and related by a variety of characters - in and outside the theatre.
